2018 Summer Rental Season Update

The sun is going down on the 2018 Summer and it brings us all a sense of completeness of the rental property season.   What have we learned from the summer of 2018?  Top of the list,  we learned that changing batteries to smoke and carbon detectors each season is a great way to prevent the nerve wrecking chirping of that mid-night call.   We have learned that a checklist is a valuable tool to communicate the expectations of owners for cleaning services.  We begin now to plan for the 2019 season and offer the following recommendations while closing your home for the season. Yes, change the batteries in the smoke and carbon detectors.  The tops of ceiling fans and the HVAC vents are very dusty and we suggest adding that to your cleaning list before closing the house.  Here are two spreadsheet options you can use as checklist for your home maintenance.  Using one of these checklists or both can assure that opening for 2019 will be smooth sailing.
