The entrance to Long Beach Island is in the beginning phase of major traffic infrastructure pattern change. According to The Sandpaper, the first phase is set to begin Monday March 15th in Ship Bottom. Sixth Street and Central Avenue will be closed off to traffic for improvement before the continuation of changing the road from the one way traffic pattern. The next phase will begin on Route 72 at the traffic light at Marsha Drive intersection. The final phase will be changes to the 9th Street entrance, the circle and 8th Street departure lanes. Most work will be conducted during the off-season with 2024 being the target for the entire project to be completed.
